Carl Pei, the co-founder of OnePlus, left OnePlus and launched his own brand called Nothing in 2021. And after its launch, they have been trying to experiment with something new, and some new design is coming with every product. So the first thing we saw was Nothing Ear 1 which is a wireless earbud, then we saw Nothing Phone 1 with Glyph light and now Nothing has launched Nothing Ear Stick 1 which looks amazing. If we talk about the price, the cost of Nothing Ear Stick is Rs.8499 in India. So, should you buy it? Let’s find out all the answers in this article.
Design
First, the box comes with a rectangular shape, and inside it will be found two cylindrical-shaped boxes one for the user manual and type-c to type-c charging cable, and one is the main charging cade with earbuds. The transparent look that we saw in Nothing Ear 1, and Nothing Phone 1 is exactly the same design element with the Nothing ear Stick. Very amazing in appearance and looks like a lipstick, just have to twist it and you will get the earbuds.
A button is available on top of the charging case, which by long pressing activates its Bluetooth. And after that, you will be able to connect to your android or ios device. And right beside the button, a USB type-c charging slot will be found that supports fast charging. It also comes with a triple microphone setup that enhances voice quality. If we talk about the earbuds, then the earbuds come with transparent plastic, white, red, and black color details. And these are attached to the charging case with magnets if you shake they will not even fall.
Comfort
The earbuds do not come with ear tips due to the half-ear design, which means they only cover half of the ear. They are more comfortable than in-ear earbuds, and the weights are very light as a feather, you will not even know when you are wearing them, and you will be able to use them for long periods of time. Due to the absence of ear tips, a lot of audio leaks out of it which means if someone is next to you, they will hear it too.
This can be a drawback as it can easily fall out of your ear when you are working out or jogging. So, if you want to watch movies, listen to music or handle calls, then these earbuds are very useful. You get press controls with these but do not get the touch controls, which you get in most wireless earbuds in this price segment. But there is a problem with the touch control most of the time it is accidentally touched. But press control requires you to physically press to stem, so the chances of making mistakes are greatly reduced.
In terms of sound quality, Active Noise Cancellation(ANC) is not available in these earbuds. There are plenty of earbuds available at this price range that comes with ANC, But the Nothing Ear Stick comes with a half-ear design which means ANC can not be with these earbuds.
The sound quality is very good and even the bass is very good, but the little drawback is that if you listen to techno music at full volume the bass gets a bit distorted and the vocals are not very clear. Otherwise, it is perfect for listening to normal music, phone calls, and having a basic gaming experience.
Connectivity
If we talk about Nothing Ear Stick, it supports Bluetooth 5.2 so it is more stable than Nothing Ear 1. Control earbuds with a single press to pause music, double press to change music, and you can manage calls with press control. You can change your controls, turn on the game mode, and even can manage audio and bass in the equalizer section. You also can use many features along with these on your Nothing Phone 1 if you use other phones then you can download the Nothing X app on your Android or iOS device, and you will get all the features of the earbuds in this app.
The battery backup of the Nothing Ear Stick, it lasts longer than the Nothing Ear 1. These earbuds give up to 7 hours of playback time with a full battery and up to 29 hours with the charging case, if these are used for 3-4 hours a day, they will provide 4-5 days of battery backup.
It doesn’t have support for wireless charging but it does support USB Type-C fast charging. It gives 9 hours of playback time with a 10 minutes charge. Also, these earbuds come with an in-ear detection feature which means if you remove the earbuds from your ears, they will automatically detect and stop the music so you do not have to do it manually, it saves a lot of battery so you can use it for longer periods of time.
Final Verdict
So, should you buy Nothing Ear Stick? Actually, the answer depends on your usage. If you want to use them during a workout, then these are not for you because of the half-in-ear design they can fall out of your ears easily. And if you want earbuds for listening to music, watching movies, and handling calls then it is best for you. And the best thing is the design of these earbuds which is very unique, such a design cannot be found in the market. when i saw it for the first time, I really liked the design.
Another good thing is that it is very small so you can carry it easily and the battery backup is amazing too. So, overall the sound quality, Bluetooth connectivity, design, and comforting experience of this nothing ear stick are very good.
